Tyler was a scheduled csection at 39 weeks (they thought he would be 10 lbs by 40 weeks) it was a big decision making process to go ahead with the csection but that is what we decided on. We went to the hospital in the morning anxious and excited got checked in and all that fun stuff. They set up my iv and pumped me full of more fluids - my ankles were beyond huge so I don't think I was lacking for water but they insisted. Grandma (Julie) came in and then Nanny and everyone was excited and maybe a bit nervous. More than anything ready to meet Mister T.
They said I was having contractions but it was news to me.
About 10 minutes before I was to be wheeled back my water broke on its own. Tyler was coming that day one way or another. The staff wasn't quite sure what to do because I was scheduled but luckily Dr. Cowan (pictured) said we will proceed as normal. I was so glad to know he would have arrived that day regardless and on his great Granny's birthday as well (she would have absolutely been in love with you Tyler and you would have likely been her favorite in my opinion because you share the same birth date).
At about 12:55 they said okay, he's about to be here, we were so excited. It took a bit longer than they thought because Tyler had a big head! I told Will to take pictures, not sure why but felt like I needed them and am so glad we have them. He stood up and Dr. Cowan said, 'whoa, you' are a hunter right?' and Will said yes and they said it was okay for him to stand up and watch. At 1:00 pm (on the dot) Tyler was born. Mad and screaming and it was beyond wonderful. We had waited for him for so long! Okay enough of the mushiness but it was so very amazing.
Tyler came in at 8lbs 8 oz and 20.5 inches. When they pulled him out the operating room said, man that's a big baby and were surprised he didn't weigh more. Still don't regret the csection one bit!
