Christmas

We had a great first Christmas. We saw lots and lots of family, I believe we made five different visits but it was fun to see everyone.

I am excited for next Christmas of course I am sure he will get lots of gifts and prefer the boxes!

I went back to work after Christmas and Will took the last week of the year off. He had an exciting time as a stay at home dad for a week.

The Christmas Card that Never Was

I had great intentions of putting together a Christmas card I wanted to have Tyler as Santa and include the dogs too. Will suggested we put Tyler in his wagon - in our heads we had a great image, execution proved to be more difficult. I soon realized there was absolutely no way that I was going to get all three to even halfway behave so I thought about photoshopping them all together. As you can tell Tyler was not thrilled with any of this at first but then warmed up to it some.

My goals were lofty and in the end I never got a Christmas card out! Next year I will start in November and hope I get one out the door.

Where's Tyler

Tyler was a giraffe for his first Holloween. Kind of funny considering he doesnt have much of a neck, but very cute!

We took this picture of him, very ETesque.

Go Rangers

Even though Will and I are not big baseball fans and Rangers either we still excited to see a Texas team make it to the World Series.

Amber bought Tyler this Rangers outfit which brought them luck in the begining.

Thanks Amber!

Why does Tyler smell like syrup

I can not stand pancakes waffles or anything that has syrup on it. Syrup sticks with you through 15 handwashings and although I ate it while pregnant with Big T before and now after pregnancy I hate(d) the smell.

When Tyler was about two weeks old I went to bed early and through out the night time feedings and such I kept thinking I was smelling syrup - gross maybe just hormones?

The next day I finally asked Will, do you smell syrup on his head? He said no at first but finally admitted he had pancakes after I went to bed and might have kissed Tyler's head a few times (or 100) hence the smell of syrup.

Photographer

We went to a photographer (Carrissa Hoopes - she's awesome) at six days old. Tyler pooped on everything but they didn't seem to mind. Lots and lots of great photos.

Going Home

We took Tyler home on September 20th. So exciting and scary. Grandma came and stayed the first night went to the grocery store, did dishes and laundry - thank you Grandma. While she was at the grocery store Will watched Tyler and I awoke to the changing table top on the coffee table and some mass chaos in the living room as Will attempted diaper changing outside the hospital. I think Tyler peed on us and it was about a 15 minute ordeal. This later lead to us timing his diaper changes to see if we could beat the previous time.

It was a fun and exciting and scary time- we were on our own!

Nanny came for the next two days and helped out as well. Fun times, and honestly not a great deal of sleep so its kind of blurry!

Tyler in his car seat to go home.

Hospital Days

We had a bit (well maybe a total) scare at first with some respiratory distress after a few xrays and an echo cardiogram it seems Tyler was having a hard time transitioning and as the pediatrician said after the most expensive test possible he was just fine. Worth every dollar and Thank GOD for great health care.

In the hospital TONS of people came to see Tyler, great aunts and uncles and friends galore! Grandma and Nanny were there the whole time. We stayed for three days, I think Will and I would have stayed a week if they would have let us. The nurses were awesome and we were a bit scared to not have them there with us. Brandy came to visit you three times I believe, shes the one in the picture Tyler.

Arrival

Tyler was a scheduled csection at 39 weeks (they thought he would be 10 lbs by 40 weeks) it was a big decision making process to go ahead with the csection but that is what we decided on. We went to the hospital in the morning anxious and excited got checked in and all that fun stuff. They set up my iv and pumped me full of more fluids - my ankles were beyond huge so I don't think I was lacking for water but they insisted. Grandma (Julie) came in and then Nanny and everyone was excited and maybe a bit nervous. More than anything ready to meet Mister T.

They said I was having contractions but it was news to me.

About 10 minutes before I was to be wheeled back my water broke on its own. Tyler was coming that day one way or another. The staff wasn't quite sure what to do because I was scheduled but luckily Dr. Cowan (pictured) said we will proceed as normal. I was so glad to know he would have arrived that day regardless and on his great Granny's birthday as well (she would have absolutely been in love with you Tyler and you would have likely been her favorite in my opinion because you share the same birth date).
At about 12:55 they said okay, he's about to be here, we were so excited. It took a bit longer than they thought because Tyler had a big head! I told Will to take pictures, not sure why but felt like I needed them and am so glad we have them. He stood up and Dr. Cowan said, 'whoa, you' are a hunter right?' and Will said yes and they said it was okay for him to stand up and watch. At 1:00 pm (on the dot) Tyler was born. Mad and screaming and it was beyond wonderful. We had waited for him for so long! Okay enough of the mushiness but it was so very amazing.

Tyler came in at 8lbs 8 oz and 20.5 inches. When they pulled him out the operating room said, man that's a big baby and were surprised he didn't weigh more. Still don't regret the csection one bit!

3-D Ultrasound

We had a 3-D ultrasound done with Tyler. It was a lot of fun to see him more clearly. Julie, Nancy, Amber and Brandy came with us. He started off by showing us his boy parts, no question, its a boy! The darker spots on his head look like hair, but its where he was pushing his head against me. What do you think, does it look like him?

Getting Started

We will see if I keep up with this, but hopefully I will. I am hoping this allows friends and family to easily keep up with what is going on with us, and maybe be a scrapbook of sorts for Tyler to look back on. Wish me luck!
